Our waterer was designed in Rye, Colorado in the early 1970's. The seasonal temperature swings between summer and winter left something to be desired from the automatic waterers available prior to the 1970's.

There were two major categories of waterers: float systems or thermos type systems. Both had drawbacks that made them less than ideal. This generated the idea for the Drinking Post Waterer: the first non-electric automatic waterer.

The Drinking Post succeeded in our goal of designing a cost effective, low maintenance, reliable automatic waterer that promotes good health in your animals. We make it our business to ensure that fresh, clean water is available to your horse, cattle, livestock, and pets year round.

Because the water remains at an ambient 50 Fahrenheit, the water is comparatively cool in the hot summer months and warm during the cold of winter. This ensures maximum water intake and promotes overall good health in all animals.

Since our inception in 1974, Drinking Posts have been installed throughout the United States, Canada, Iceland, and Europe. That makes the Drinking Post Waterer the longest field-tested non-electric waterer.
